On Wednesday morning, we started getting texts from the office saying to pack up everything and prepare to evacuate. We don't watch the news, so we were freaking out trying to pack, buy food and water, get gas, put all of our stuff in plastic bags, etc. Then, after much anguish, the mission had a conference call where they told us we weren't going to evacuate at all. A lot of the missionaries on the east coast needed to, but we were safe. So while the other missionaries were hanging out in the church, we were out working extra hard in the rain to make up for it. A lot of people thought we were crazy. "What are you doing here? Don't you know there's a hurricane?" "Go inside!" "You're crazy!"
And then the day came, and it didn't even rain at all. And it rains EVERYDAY here. Nice.
In other news, James is still preparing to be baptized on the 22nd! He is so solid! Part member families are the best. He is super sick, but whenever we see him, he has a smile! This family has waited a long time for him to be baptized!
All of our other investigators have been dropped. They aren't progressing. But we are excited to find new people this week!
We are emailing late today because some members took us out to a nature preserve on Pine Island. So cool! So many animals! It reminds me a lot of the Cabin, except its a beach. Pine Island is a nice little tourist town full of so many amazing things!
Well, I guess that's about it. Today is my 16 month mark on the mission, and I'm not sure how I feel. Excited, nervous, tired, all of the above! I've learned to much the past 16 months, and I have no idea what comes next, but hey. Whatever? God is in charge what more do we need?
