Hello friends and family!
So...all of our investigators are in the hospital. That pretty much sums up the week!
We are in high spirits, despite the circumstances, but we are so ready to start the week over and go find more people to teach!
David was supposed to get baptized on Saturday. We went through SO much with him to get him ready in time. Three days before his baptism, he starts texting us a ton saying that his father was mentally abusing him and that he couldn't take it anymore. We didn't know what to do, so we asked the bishop to give him a blessing. It was really beautiful.
The next day David seemed really on edge again about his Dad. They were arguing a lot, and he kept on calling us asking us for help. We didn't know what to do! A few hours later he called us from on the way to the hospital. Long story short, he is now in a rehab facility that is out of our area. We can't visit him, or reach him. He calls us once a day, which we really appreciate, but we don't know really anything about what happened.
So basically no baptism this week. When David gets out, he isn't going to live with his Dad anymore, so we don't know where he will go. We are hoping he will be here long enough to be baptized, but we don't know. As long as he gets baptized somewhere we will be content!
Paula, our other investigator, is getting an MRI today because she might have a brain tumor. She has been an absolute mess for the past while because she knew something was wrong with her. I am not sure when we will find out how it went, but we are anxiously waiting! We love Paula so much!
It turns out that our new investigator, Olga, has Alzheimer's, and she just outright forgot who we were.
And that sums up the week! I know that God has a plan for everything, and that everything will be okay in the end. We have a SUPER positive attitude about all of this, despite Satan trying to ruin our lives. The only thing that really bothers us is that our district leader is extremely angry at us because of our low numbers. It's not our fault that all of this happened! We are giving it 100% of our effort!
We are all just trying.
I saved a hairless cat from getting hit by a car! The owners were really grateful until we invited them to church with us. They weren't happy after that...
We are teaching, and trying to reactivate an entire giant Cuban family. I think I probably mentioned them before. They are all non members or less actives. Dominic and Suzanne and their 5 kids are now baptized, thanks to the Sisters before us. We are working on Suzanne's brother, mother, and sister in law. We are bringing the entire crazy Cuban Saavedra family back to the fold of God and it is going to be amazing!
Last night we saw a lady moving in to her apartment, so we offered to help her. At first she said no, which is such a Cuban thing, but then she noticed that we were missionaries, and she said yes! It turns out that she is a less active member! Her name is Mercedes, and she is WAY awesome. Hard to understand, but awesome.
I think that people think really successful missions are easy, but that is so not true! We should be baptizing at least every month, and finding a new investigator every day. Sometimes, actually usually, that is impossible. But we are doing our best!
I do have another funny story to end with!
We had to take the car in, and we had no idea what we were doing. It was not fun! Anyway, the name on the insurance is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, so when the car was done, they started calling for Jesus Christ to come get his car. It was super busy, and this big black lady kept saying into the speaker phone "Is Jesus here? Your car is done. Does anybody know Jesus Christ?" Everyone in the dealership had their eyes peeled to see who Jesus Christ was.
So we walk up, and the lady looks at us funny, and says "Your Jesus?" And we were like yeah, we represent Jesus, and then we left.
So that was a lot more funny in real life, but it's cool to represent Jesus!
